Things to do in Torrevieja
Torrevieja has quickly grown from a salt-mining and fishing village to a cosmopolitan beach town. It has two airports close by, Murcia and Alicante. In Torrevieja nowadays more than 50% of the inhabitants are from foreign countries. That gives an international flair, but Torrevieja still has many celebrations, festivals and has kept its Spanish traditions that are very popular amongst all visitors. It is worth it to check the festival calendar before you go and adjust the dates. Almost every month there is a big day to celebrate: Easter, May fair, San Juan, a parade of giants and big heads, and more. Torrevieja has a 20km coastline with beaches, and you can do nice boat trips with catamarans in the sea. For more active people, there are salt lakes close by, on of them is the so-called Pink lake, where you have excellent bicycle routes. Plenty of golf courses as well, and for families, a lot of fun is guaranteed in the waterpark. Being a Spanish city, you can of course find the famous tapas and paella, but there is also international cuisine to find.
