One of the most beautiful cycle tours in the region leads right through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Potsdam's palaces and gardens to the southwest of Berlin. Take a leisurely ride from Potsdam Central Station through Potsdam's historic Old Town: from the rebuilt palace at the Alter Markt via Bassinplatz, through the Dutch Quarter to Nauener Tor. After leaving the old town, we pass the Russian colony "Alexandrowka". From there you'll descend to the New Garden, where you can take a short break at the Meierei on the banks of the Havel. Through the New Garden, past Cecilienhof Palace, you'll finally reach the Glienicke Bridge, in the middle of which the border once ran and which now connects Potsdam with Berlin again.
On the Berlin side, there is a pavilion called "Great Curiosity" and the two Glienicke palaces. The path now continues along the banks of the Havel. You'll pass the Sacrower Heilandskirche church, the Moorlake restaurant and the romantic Pfaueninsel island. At Heckeshorn, you have a beautiful view of the Wannsee lido and the many sailing boats. In the idyllic street "Am Großen Wannsee" you'll also encounter the highs and lows of German history: beautiful villas and yacht clubs on the one hand and the site of the infamous Wannsee Conference, on the other. The tour ends at Wannsee station.
Itinerary: Potsdam main station, Potsdam old town, New Garden, Cecilienhof, Glienicker Bridge, Wannsee Cenference Villa, Wannsee train station.
